Door Pairs

Some designs are available as a pre-rebated pair in a range of standard sizes.

A rebate is a specially shaped cut at the meeting edge of the doors that creates a partial overlap, which allows the doors to close tightly together without a gap.

This means one of the doors would have to be opened first before the other door.

At 40mm thick, the doors in rebated pairs are slightly thicker than standard (35mm thick) single doors.

None of the rebated pairs are available as fire-check (FD30) doors.

If you don’t see a design that you like here, 2 no single doors could be fitted together. A rebate could perhaps be cut into the meeting edge of the two doors, or a T bar pair-maker could be affixed to the edge of one of the doors.

Please note, cutting a rebate into the edge of two single doors would reduce the overall width of the two doors a little ; fitting a T bar pair-maker would increase the overall width of the two doors.  Also please note, trimming individual doors for a rebate may require cutting the doors beyond trimming tolerance ; adding a T bar pair maker may affect the visual appeal of the doors.

A simple option is to do without a rebate or pair-maker, but there will be a gap at the meeting edge. If this is a problem, e.g. due to a draught or if you don’t like to see light between the doors, a gasket or a length of strip with protruding brush could be fitted at the meeting edge of one of the doors to fill the gap.
